I found this advert in the 'Walsall Observer' dated 7th October 1977: “SUNDOWN RECORDS - 50p OFF these LP's at Full Retail Price with this voucher! VALID 30th SEPT. to 15th OCT. SUNDOWN RECORDS, BRADFORD ST., WALSALL; LICHFIELD ST., WOLVERHAMPTON; CAMPHILL SHOPPING CENTRE, WEDNESBURY.”

I found this in the 'Wolverhampton Express & Star' dated 15th February 2003: “Sundown Records, Bradford Street, Walsall. FOR the record, working in one of Walsall's best loved shops sounds like heaven for music fan Mark Burns. Mark, aged 42, from Leamore, has worked at Sundown Records in Bradford Street, for 19 years, and says the music is sounding better than ever. “Everybody wants to work in a record shop. It really is a smashing job,” he says. Mark says he can listen to all kinds of music, but his personal favourites range from The Beatles and Pearl Jam to Sum 41 and The Wildhearts. His hot tips for 2003 include “any band with ‘The’ in front of their name”, like The Datsuns and The Hives, and more success for young American rock bands in the UK. Mark says he gets his biggest buzz from introducing people to new music and then finding them still buying albums by artists he has recommended many years down the line. He says the worst part is not having time to get everything done. He says Sundown is a “one-off” record store, with its huge back catalogue of classic 70s albums, punk and R & B. Mark says CD sales may have dipped nationally, but the alarm bells are not sounding at Sundown, which has recently diversified into DVD's, and is also big in the vinyl market, which is proving a hit with a new generation of 'bedroom DJ's', as well as serious record collectors.”
