I found this in the 'Portsmouth Evening News' dated 23rd December 1977 edition:
“MAD CHRISTMAS EVE RECORD SALE. The Perfect Christmas Gift. 100's of new full price albums. Our price £1, £1.50 and £2. Also always 1,000 singles in stock as well as 100's of cassettes. ROSS RECORDS 242 Fratton Road, Portsmouth (Opposite Tatler Cinema).”
...and this in the 7th August 1987 edition:
“ROSS Records Music Market has been trading for 12 years at its premises in Kingston Road, Portsmouth. It has built up a reputation of being the biggest buyer of records and cassettes in the Portsmouth area - from L.P.s and cassettes to compact discs - all at low prices. Your unwanted cassette tapes, L.P.s, singles and C.D.s may be exchanged for the current chart sounds or to improve your collection of your favourite band or artiste. So, instead of letting your unwanted records collect dust exchange them for new ones, as no L.P.s are refused. Material sought-after by collectors can also be found at Ross Records, but is sold at normal prices.”
