Co-op had a large department store in West Street with a sizable area set aside for records.

Name: Pete Downs Comment: It was a good record department. I used to visit regularly from 1971-73 to go through the 10p singles box for bargains. They had a big backlog of ex-chart and non-charting singles and EPs which they used to restock the box each week. These records dated back to the early 1960s so I used to buy up old Manfred Mann, Troggs, Butterfield Blues Band etc. singles for 10 pence each. They also had lists on the counter of the Stax and Tamla Motown singles they had in stock. (20 May 2014)
