I found an article about Revolver in the 'Coventry Evening Telegraph' dated 7th October 1983:
“FEW people can have failed to notice the big red-neon sign in Lower Precinct, Coventry that heralded the arrival of Revolver Records. The sign above Revolver Records’ new store at 54 Lower Precinct has been turning heads since it was put up more than two weeks ago. When the doors finally opened last week there was a queue of people who couldn't wait to see what was going on inside the former Spall’s gift shop in its prime city centre site opposite Woolworth’s. The management of Coventry’s newest, and probably biggest, record and video store are quietly confident that that’s just the way it’s going to stay. The new shop is the Leicester-based company's eighth and most prestigious branch. With three floors and more than 5,000 sq. ft. of space it’s an indication of the faith Revolver has in its own future. The firm opened it’s first store in Kettering eight years ago and it now has shops in Mansfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottingham, Leicester, Wellingborough and Northampton with another two or three units planned for next year. The new Coventry store will establish beyond doubt their reputation as the premier record and video chain in the Midlands. Certainly, when you walk through the doors into the new shop, there’s an air of professionalism about the lay-out that makes you feel that Revolver Records is here to stay. Smart red signs echo the big neon “Revolver” on the shop front and point you clearly to the shop’s three departments.”
