I used to visit this shop regularly in the late 80s/early 90s but the opening times were erratic. It was usually open on Saturdays and randomly (seemingly) on weekday evenings.The guy who ran it was a little eccentric. I would often trek over there on a Saturday and occasionally on a weekday evening (but was regularly disappointed often as he wasn’t open). He didn’t display the actual stock for some reason (maybe to avoid theft?) but had bad or indistinct photo copies of the CD sleeves stuck on an LP sized piece of cardboard (4 CDs to a piece of card), which you took up to the counter. Each sleeve was individually numbered and when you took the cards up to the counter he would write the CD number and its price in his little book and then disappear out the back to find the actual CDs. Then he would bring them out and take each one out of its case, dust it with his cloth and hold it under a lamp on the counter, so that you could inspect the disc. It was cash only and he would put your notes in a holder on the counter, while he sorted out your change. It was quite a unique experience!
