I was working around the country in quiet towns, so when I went to London for a few days I took a big list of 'wants' heard on the Peel show or the offshore pirates and tried the biggest shops in the City. They didn't stock singles! Next stop was Bradford where I had time to explore the town centre and found Wood's Music with a separate record department. I pulled out my list of obscurities and read them out, and the girl pulled them off the shelves as fast as I was reading them. Sadly only my impecunity called an early halt to this bonanza!

I found this in the 'Bradford Daily Argus' dated 30th April 1920: “COLUMBIA RECORDS, Complete Stocks at Wood & Marshall's, 28, Sunbridge Road, Bradford.”
...and this in the 'Bradford Observer' dated 7th October 1937:
“J. WOOD & SONS LTD. 9, NEW IVEGATE and 28, SUNBRIDGE ROAD, BRADFORD.”
