Name: Stephen Hodder
Comment: Cheltenham WH Smith had overhead listening booths in the early 1970s. Preedys (Universal Stationers) were next door to Smiths at the bottom end of the Promenade. Boots upstairs had booths too.

I found the address of W. H. Smith, Cheltenham in the 'Gloucestershire Echo' dated 11th July 1950:
“W. H. Smith & Son, Ltd., 92 Promenade, Cheltenham.”
... which is referred to by Martin Reynolds in his post on BRSA at this link:
https://www.britishrecordshoparchive.org/shops/cavendish-house-1/
“... in the Prom, we had W H Smith ... this had a record dept at the back of the store with two or three listening booths.”
