Comment: I went to school in Penzance during the 1960s and I think this refers to West Penwith Music Shop or what the locals referred to as Marshall James's. The shop sold sheet music as well as records etc. My parents used to buy records by local brass bands, choirs etc. I seem to remember the shop also sold musical instruments, but it was a long time ago.

I found this advert in the 'Cornishman' dated 21st March 1940: “THE BEST PLACE FOR MUSIC and GRAMOPHONE RECORDS? OH, EASY! WEST PENWITH MUSIC SHOP, UNION STREET, (off Greenmarket), PENZANCE. Tel. 912. Here you can buy your Music - Standard or Popular - and all makes of Gramophones.”
… and this listing in the 19th September 1940 edtion: “Take Cover with your Gramophone and some of your favourite Records and you'll be quite happy. There's a Good Selection at West Penwith Music Shop, Union Street (off Greenmarket), Penzance. Tel. 912.”
