Brian May of Queen bought a Les Paul & Mary Ford EP in this shop in the late 1950s/early 1960s. It opened in 1899 and closed down in 1972.

Comment: I worked in Waldren's in the 1960s, I don't remember Brian May though, mind you I worked on the bicycle side of the business not the electrical....

Comment: The two businesses were run by brothers. I bought my very first LP from Waldren's back in 1958. I also remember how the female staff behind the counter wore special tunics and for 78rpm discs, they had to go upstairs to fetch them.

I found an advert in the ‘Middlesex Chronicle’ dated 30th November 1951:
“WALDRENS for your XMAS GRAMOPHONE RECORDS. All Latest Issues In Stock on Day of Release. HMV, MGM, COLUMBIA, CAPITOL, PARLOPHONE, BRUNSWICK, ETC. WE SELL & EXCHANGE RECORD TOKENS. WALDRENS 60-64 HIGH STREET, HOUNSLOW. Telephone: HOUnslow 1133.”
