I was attending the London College of Printing at the Elephant & Castle in 1971, learning about photo-composition. In my lunch break I would browse W. H. Smith's record department in the Elephant & Castle shopping centre. I remember buying a recording of 'Don Quixote' by Richard Strauss on CBS Classics (a mid-price re-issue label), as money was tight in my last year on apprentices wages.

I used to frequent this (surprisingly large) WH Smiths record section - circa ‘78-85. It stocked a good selection of current chart material & back catalogue items. And as an aside, Dave, I also attended LCP from 1986 - 1989, on an origination day release course.
