Comment: If you grew up in 1990s or 2000s Hull, it's likely you headed to the Virgin Megastore to buy your first CD, browse at the weekend with your friends or queue up to meet your favourite boyband.

The lost Virgin Megastore  in Princes Quay was huge. Before Spotify and Apple music, we'd peruse for must-have CDs here.

My other favourite record shop in Hull in the 1970s was the Book and Record Exchange on Princes Avenue. Great shop because you could literally exchange things you did not like. I also loved the first Virgin store in Hull with its beanbags and their willingness to put anything you recommended on their turntable.
