In the late 1980s there was a record shop called Timewarp, in a basement on Park Street, Croydon. Run by a guy called Terry Mack (if my memory serves me) it sold funk, soul, breaks, hip hop, jazz etc, and I remember the record sleeves in boxes, under arches, on either sides of the shop. There was also a record shop opposite, on Park Street, I believe it was called Impulse Records. It sold hip hop.

I found this in the 'Reading Evening Post' dated 30th November 1987: “BRACKNELL'S FIRST GOLDEN OLDIES RECORD SHOP! A new kind of Music Shop comes to Bracknell: Timewarp, one of the country's leading suppliers of hard-to-find records, opens its doors at 2 Market Place on Tuesday Dec 1st. at 10 a.m. Thousands of titles for you to browse through means something of interest for everyone. Remember, if you can't find it, we probably can! We know our stuff - why not check us out? SOUL/JAZZ FANS: GROOVES ARE OUR SPECIALITY - COME & LOOK!! Timewarp, 2 MARKET PLACE, BRACKNELL, BERKS. RG12 1DT.”
