I found an advertisement in the 'Norwood News' dated 28th June 1957: “THORPE'S RADIO, RECORD DEPARTMENT, CLASSICAL • JAZZ • POPULAR DISCS • SELECTION OF LONG PLAYING RECORDS IN STOCK also RECORD PLAYERS, RADIOGRAMS. 3 ST. MARK'S RD., MITCHAM.”
A-Z prev: Thornton & Vowles
A-Z next: Thorton-Varley
Name: Lesley Moyse Ridge
Comment: Do you remember the ginger nutty old bird in there? I think she was the owner.
Name: Debbie Honey
Comment: I used to buy my records (no, you youngsters, no CDs or downloads in those days) in Thorpe's Record Bar next door.
Name: Ray Larmar
Comment: Used to buy those crap Top of the Pops LPs at Thorpe's before K-Tel came on the scene.
Name: Pauline Hudspith
Comment: I bought my first single there, Puppy Love by Donny Osmond!
Name: Mark Skinner
Comment: Did Thorpe's Record Bar move up the road about 50 yards, as I remember buying records from somewhere near the 118 bus stop?
