I found this in the 'Nottingham Advertiser' dated 11th September 1936: “Thornton and Vowles, Ltd. - Messrs. Thornton and Vowles, Ltd., of 22, Goldsmith Street, Nottingham, are one of the oldest retailers of radio receivers in the country. They were established at the commencement of broadcasting, so that the experience they have gained with the various types of receivers is of enormous value to the intending purchaser of a new set. During the whole period of their existence this firm have specialised in 'Marconiphone' products and, once again, this company's receivers will form the star attraction at 22, Goldsmith Street. To the connoisseur who requires good radio with the advantages of gramophone recitals there is the six-valve De Luxe Radio-gram at 36 guineas. Other radio-grams from 22 guineas in beautifully finished cabinets form attractive investments to the discerning listener.”
