I bought a few modern records (LPs & singles) from this second-hand shop in Tooting, which also had a branch in Croydon at 15 Lower Addiscombe Road, where I bought my first modern jazz albums (John Coltrane, Art Blakey, MJQ, Dave Brubeck, etc.) in the mid-sixties. Those were the days!

I found this advert in the 'Streatham News' dated 11th October 1957:
“WANTED FOR SPOT CASH: CAMERAS, BINOCULARS, TYPEWRITERS, ENLARGERS, RADIOS, RADIOGRAMS, FISHING TACKLE, MODERN RECORDS, MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS etc. The Treasure Chest, 154 Upper Tooting Rd., (opp. Mayfair Cinema). Tel. Balham 4145.”
... and this recollection from Trev Faull in his book 'A Collector's Guide to 60's Brit-Pop Instrumentals' published in 1999:
“Living in South London there were two shops that were to weigh heavily on my collecting habits, one new and the other secondhand. In Balham, The Record Corner was a small but highly efficient store that specialised in new releases. A secondhand emporium midway between Tooting Bec and Tooting Broadway was The Treasure Chest. Quite aptly named it was too!”
