Comment: I often used to visit Stephen Siger in Edgware around 1979-80. I remember he had a book of deleted singles which were 10p each - I got lots of rare Shadows-related singles - also some import LPs. Great memories!

Comment: The Borough of Barnet had a proud history of record stores. In Mill Hill we had Derek Tyne's store in the Broadway. We then had a record shop next to Budgens in what is now The Bridge Tavern. Later on Stephen Siger relocated from Edgware to Mill Hill. I bought many records from these outlets. I knew Stephen Siger's daughter Jackie from school and I was his last customer in Mill Hill before he closed.

I use to work in Edgware close to Stephen Siger. I was in there every week for 1976 to 1984 to buy at least one album. If he didn't have what you were after he would order it in for you. Then come 1983 I bought a CD player and used the shop until late 1984. I still have one of those paper bags in the loft. Great shop.

The small shop with the BIG selection. If you needed an old record, Stephen Siger could get it. I remember one time going in there with a long list of 7" singles. I was in there for nearly two hours whist he searched for the songs on my list because he had to keep stopping to serve other customers, but I didn't mind, it gave me chance to go through the collection of 7"s he had on display. He had all but three on my list but I came out with a dozen extra that I picked out. Miss those days.
