I have just come across your website and it is great. Brings back so many memories.
One of my greatest memories of buying records as a teenager was from Spinadisc, Abington Square, Northampton. It was a fantastic record shop. This was the original location prior to moving to Abington Street to larger premises.
The Abington Square store was tiny. It had a narrow staircase leading up to counter, from what I can remember, with records on either side. I think the owner was called Dick Raybould. It attracted fans of all types of music and especially punks as they sold the records you couldn't buy from Woolworths or WH Smith. I bought many records from there and do recall buying the Band Aid 'Do They Know It's Christmas' single from there before the scheduled date of release as they had copies in the shop.
Going to record shops like Spinadisc was a huge part of my youth and it has been very sad to see the demise of such shops. The youth of today will never appreciate how good those times were.

Comment: I have such fond memories of both working in, and visiting Spinadisc in Northampton. Back when record shops were THE coolest place to be.

Comment: Got a great many Motown records from there. Their original shop in Derngate was far better for singles.
