“Glen McTaggart runs Salvation Sounds record shop in Glasgow, which specialises in alt country. He has seen the scene go from strength to strength and is on the verge of moving to larger premises. “It’s been the main growth area for us,” he says. “It’s grown by word of mouth and I think it's a reaction to all the diluted pop that’s in the charts. Mention country music and everyone thinks of Jim Reeves but there are 17 and 18 year-olds into this. It's got the rock that the kids want and the country that the grownups want.”
