I found this piece on page 12 of the 'Nelson Leader' dated 5th March 1965: “Mr. Croasdale (Director). The business has expanded over the years. Today, it still provides music for the home, but music through the more sophisticated forms of 1965, by means of radio and television, tape recorders, record players and high fidelity equipment. The story of Croasdale’s is, in effect, the story of the rise of music at home. From pianos, before the turn of the century, Mr. Croasdale turned to the gramophone, stocking those early models with the enormous horns, and those recordings, primitive by today's standards, in which the singer's voice emerged - just - from a background of hissing and spluttering. Radio was the next step and again the firm was in the forefront of local developments. It was granted a Murphy agency in in 1931, which it still holds. After the second world war came television, the tape recorder and the long playing record. All have their place today in the firm's shop and showrooms, plus the selection of long playing records, both stereo and mono.”
