Started at Richard Records in 1985 just in time for Live Aid. Worked there for a few years in which time the owners Richard and Gillian sold up to a new owner who changed the name to Spot On Sounds and gave me free reign to order in whatever I wanted.

I then jumped ship to Our Price in Derby and for the next 10 years worked in their Derby, Nottingham and Leicester branches. Pete (2924)

I found a classified advert in the 'Derby Daily Telegraph' dated 22nd March 1986: “RICHARDS RECORDS require one full-time Sales Assistant. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in music who is honest and can work quickly and efficiently. We can offer you a salary and pleasant conditions. Please apply in writing, giving full details of yourself to Richards Records, 9 The Spot, Derby.”

I worked there from 85 to 88, changed it's name to Spot On Sounds

I found this advert in the 'Derby Daily Telegraph' dated 17th April 1982: “RICHARDS RECORDS require one full-time Sales Assistant to work mainly in our downstairs department. For an interview apply to: 9 The Spot, Derby, giving as much information as possible.”
... and this advert in the 6th November 1987 edition which confirms the change of name:
“YOUNG PERSON, 16 to 20 years, required by record store for full time position. Full details please to: SPOT ON SOUNDS, 9 The Spot, Derby. Only written applications will be considered.”
