My dad, Mick, was one of the owners of Red House Records together with a mate of his. In order to raise the money to open the shop, they borrowed from some local London gangsters, and when it came time to pay them back my dads partner (apparently) ran off with the money. Unable to pay up, my dad then had to leave aswell and the shop was shut down.
He told me about his partners drug problem. And my dad, if not already, was on his way to his own. So I think what "Ed" said about the business being lost through drug use was true.
I have heard many fun stories about the shop from my dad however, with bands recording in the basement of the shop, which had some kind of studio, and many known faces of the day hanging around.
If anyone met Mick or his partner or ever visited the shop I would love to hear about it!
Thanks
