Name: Andy Miles
Comment: I worked as a resident disc jockey at Franco's in Egham through 1971 and 1972. I bought most of my records at Record Wise then. I cannot remember the shopkeeper's name but he was incredibly helpful, allowing me to audition all the new releases in a back room. Wonderful memories, great times.

Comment: Happy memories of Record Wise in Egham. Adam was a great guy, his knowledge of the record scene was immense. I've probably still got some 45s I purchased from him. Is he still with us?

Comment: I bought Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out on its release, 1972 I think; also Record Wise introduced me to the wonders of HP in1973/74 at the tender age of 18, and I could get an upgrade on my hi-fi system: some Wharfdale speakers and a Marantz amp - heaven! My dad had the car showroom around the corner from Record Wise. I remember it all like yesterday. Everyone went to the pub for lunch, even the bank manager!

Comment: I spent a lot of time in Record Wise in the early 1970s. Do you remember that Adam (King was his surname, lived over the crossing on the way to Pooley Green) ran a service where you could borrow records from the stock? He kept a card index of who had what. There were also a few instruments and amps for sale.

Comment: Was in there once when Frank Muir (famous comedy scriptwriter with Denis Norden at the time) was buying a jazz record.
Did he not move the store to the other end of Egham High Street at some point?
