Martin McKatscanIn the early 80s, I was all about Heavy Metal and got all my records from Rainbow Records a few doors down, but in the later 80s and my later teens, when I got into more obscure weird goth bands, I’d order all my stuff from here. The ladies were never phased by ordering in 12” singles by bands like ‘Alien Sex Fiend’ or ‘Creaming Jesus’ etc. I’m sure they thought it was hilarious, but also probably appreciated anyone being into ANY music enough to bother special ordering it.They certainly didn’t seem judgey.Crazy to think before the internet and Spotify, you would have to walk to town, ask a human to look in a huge paper distribution catalogue to see if they could find a release you’d only seen mentioned in review or interview in NME or Sounds, then wait a week or two for it to be physically delivered to the shop, walk back into town, pick it up and take it home, before you could discover if you actually liked it or not
