'Market Harborough Advertiser' dated 17th April 1980:“Opening of record bar.CELEBRATIONS on the opening night of R. D. Jeacock’s former High Street Record Bar. Sleeves on display - and the fashions - give a clue to the year: Lena Horne, Perry Como, Frank Chacksfield, Russ Conway, The McGuire Sisters. Were you right? it was January, 1960.”… and this piece on p12 of the same edition:“The new High Street shop also had a large record bar, and sound-proof booths were installed. The full page advertisement announcing the opening of the record barassured potential customers that these booths “would ensure complete privacy”’. Also featured in the opening advertisement were some of the pop stars of twenty years ago: Paul Anka, Perry Como, Lita Roza, Pat Boone, Tommy Steele and Cliff Richard. Obviously some stars had more lasting appeal than others. In 1964, the business moved again. This time to Coventry Road, into the building now occupied by Tates the Chemists.”...and this in the 1st October 1959 edition:“R. D. JEACOCK 13 HIGH STREET and 20 BATH STREET, MARKET HARBOROUGH. Telephone 3092.”
