I found this advert in the 'Horley & Gatwick Mirror' dated 27th January 1994: “NEW NEW NEW NEW NEW - PULSE Records, OPENING MONDAY, 31st JANUARY. RECORDS, TAPES, CDs, HI-FI. 123 VICTORIA ROAD, HORLEY 771000.” … and this piece in the 28th December 1995 edition: “Pulse Records owner Gary Warner said business was busiest on Friday and Saturday after people were given holiday pay.”

Yes, this was Horley's only record shop, so its only rival in that regard was the newsagents across the road that sold chart CDs. In the 1990s and 2000s it was open to the public (it changed locations twice). Now it's an online-only shop. Still run by original owner Gary Warner as far as I know.
