I found this announcement in the 'Dover Express' dated 7th February 1986: “THE Plantation record shop in Dover High Street closed at the weekend. The shop was run by Mr Martin Jackson, who also manages Landau Ski Sounds in Folkestone. The closure follows the opening of the rival Our Price record store in the town last December.”
… and this announcement in the 25th April 1986 edition: “AN extensive record stock of imports, specialist items and picture discs is promised at Hummingbird Records, which opens its doors on the premises of the former Plantation Records in Dover High Street next month. Hummingbird already has a branch in Folkestone and proprietor Mr David Stodart said both shops will aim to cater for both the collector and casual record buyer. The Dover Hummingbird shop opens on May 10.”
