'Todmorden & District News' dated 3rd April 1998:THE first store to open was O&J Music on Rochdale Road, which opened just before Christmas. The shop is owned by local man, Mr Jeffery Barrit and his fiancee Olwen Hopwood, who comes from Manchester. Mr Barrit has always been interested in music, and after being made redundant from Turn Leathers, he went on a business course so that he could become self employed. He then ran a record stall on Todmorden Market before opening his new shop. O&J Music caters for everyone, selling music from the 1930's right up to today’s chart music, videos and even music t-shirts. The couple feel that their shop is a positive addition to the town’s business community.”
