I found this in the 'Chelmsford Chronicle' dated 8th June 1923: “Popularity of Songs. — Alfred Thos. Burriss, Wimborne Road, Southend, lately carrying on business as a music dealer at Main Avenue, York Road Market, Southend. He began the business in September, 1919. Prior to that he was a music teacher.”
