Comment: I've known this street since 1977 and don't remember the shop at all, so I guess it must have gone by then. The only record shop I recall ever being in Strutton Ground was a branch of Harlequin, which closed in 1978, although it could have been in the same premises as Music Man.

Comment: Just noticed the telephone number, which would suggest it was in operation prior to 1967 and therefore, fit in with the release of Pet Sounds.

Mark Griffiths: I found this address for Harlequin Records in July 1971:
“Harlequin Records, 28, Strutton Ground, London, S.W.1.”
... which shows that it was in the same premises as Music Man.

I worked there in 1979.
Harlequin had moved premises by then and was by Westminster City Hall on Victora Street.
In 1979 it was owned by the Taub family who owned Giljays in Church Street as well. It was only open Mon to Fri as there was no business on the weekends. I'd do overtime at the Church street shop on Saturdays.
It got bought out soon into the 80s and has been a confectioner/newsagent ever since.
