Comment: A record shop that always stocked a surprising number of heads LPs, May Smith's on the Old Kent Road. I bought my copy of Hunky Dory here in 1971. Sold toys too so if you wanted the new Amon Duul AND a cap gun - job done!

Comment: May Smith's record shop in the 1970s on the corner of East Street and old Kent Road. Always remember this as my uncle Bill lived above the cake shop a couple of shops down towards the Elephant.

Comment: Oh yes, I bought many records there and on the opposite corner was a library.

Remember this well (I lived in Surrey Square, the next street up).I brought my first 45s there and the last Led Zeppelin album before they spilt in 1980. MS also sold model kits, Airfix etc, and as a kid I was in there a lot buying them. Thinks ots a phone shop now.
