I bought countless records in Mark One in Peach Street, Wokingham. If Mark or Keith should see this message I would like to thank them for the excellent service they provided.

Used to purchase at this shop a lot in the eighties. It was situated in Peach Street, Wokingham next to Woolworths. I bought mainly singles on release date at discounted prices (usually half price) before they made the Top 40 when the price would go up. Those were the day

Thank you Clive. We had a ball too. In total we were open for around nine years. We expanded to a few more but the recession in the early 1990s killed not only us, but many other independent record shops. BUT I see many are making a comeback. Long live vinyl eh? Best wishes... Mark & Keith.

I found this in the 'Wokingham Times' dated 22nd September 1983: “...Mark Clark and Keith Hoskins, co-owners of Mark one Records...”
'Bracknell Times' dated 28th January 1988: “FEARGAL Sharkey was in Wokingham’s Mark One Records last week promoting his latest album - 'Wish'.”
...and this in the 'Reading Evening Post' dated 4th October 1991: “Mark Clark, who runs Mark One Records in Thatcham's Kingsland Centre, claims the market left the town centre deserted and took away passing trade. He said: “We are not against a market, but we need it centrally. Thatcham is already a satellite town of Newbury, so we are trying to hang on to the last bits of trade.” More than 2,600 people have signed a petition organised by Mr. Clark and fellow shop owners, calling for tighter laws to regulate markets.”
...and this in the 9th April 1992 edition: “Tickets available from the Phoenix Plaza or Mark One Records, Wokingham & Woodley. Tel: 0734 793779/441655.”
...and this in the 27th April 1993 edition: “Trader Keith Hoskins, a partner at Mark One Records, said: “I was very pleased with the initiative. We plan to set up a traders' association to participate in the management forum.”
...plus this notice in the 4th August 1994 edition:
“RE: MARK WILLIAM CLARK of Browning Close, Thatcham, Berkshire and lately carrying on business as Mark One Records in Wokingham, Woodley and Thatcham with others. On 25 July 1994 the above-named Court made a Bankruptcy Order against the abovenamed debtor.”
