I found this in the 'Portsmouth Evening News' dated 18th November 1977: “Tickets: £1.25 or £1 in advance from Mardi Gras Records, Fawcett Road; October Records, Fratton Road.”

A wonderful shop, which by the early 1980s had developed essentially into Rough Trade on Sea, catering for Peel obsessives and earnest young truthseekers. I've a feeling that Mike Malignant (of 'The Parasites' infamy) was connected in some way, and possibly worked behind the counter (citation required)? I don't remember October Records, sadly, but purchased my first ever vinyl artefact from a shop on nearby Albert Road, whose main trade was in model railway accessories.(Alice Cooper's 'School's Out, since you ask).
