I found an advert in the 'Daily Record' dated 14th August 1917: “Thomas Machell & Sons, 45 Great Western Road. RECORDS, all makes, including His Master’s Voice; every title in stock; send for lists. - Record Saloons, 125 Bothwell Street, Glasgow.” ... and this announcement in 'The Scotsman' dated 29th November 1967: “ROBINSON RENTALS' NEW BRANCHES. Last May, the chairman, Mr David Robinson, announced the acquisition of 25 new branches, including the Glasgow firm of Thomas Machell & Son.”

I found this in 'The Scotsman' dated 16th December 1960: “MR. EDWARD MACHELL. The death has occurred of Mr Edward Machell, managing director of Thomas Machell & Sons Ltd., 45 Great Western Road, Glasgow. An accomplished musician, he was well known in the music trade in Glasgow and was a former president of the Scottish Music Merchants Association and the Radio Industries Club of Glasgow. Mr Machell is survived by his wife and son.”
