Larry's Record Bar was sitiuated in the Market Hall in Cumbernauld Town Centre. I'm guessing it ran from the late 70s through to the early 80s before it presumably was taken over and renamed Rising Sun Records which finally shut perhaps late 80s/early 90s. I don't have any photos but there's one of Rising Sun Records on a Facebook post. Martin Walker

I found this advert in the 'Cumbernauld News' dated 12th September 1974: “LARRY’S RECORD BAR, Unit 20, Market Hall, Town Centre, Cumbernauld. LADY ASSISTANT REQUIRED to work approximately 25 hours weekly, including Friday and Saturday. MUST BE FLEXIBLE, HAVE PLEASANT PERSONALITY, AND SOME INTEREST IN MUSIC. Apply Manageress (PLEASE, NOT SATURDAY).”
... and this piece (about the effect of teacher's strikes) in the 19th December 1974 edition:
“Larry’s Record Bar in the Market Halls has been inundated with children buying records. A spokesman for the shop said: “'We are much busier than usual during the strikes and it is not just because of Christmas coming up.”
Adverts for Larry's Record Bar appear in the 'Cumbernauld News' from March 1974 to June 1984.
