I found this advert in the ‘Grimsby Daily Telegraph’ dated 19th January 1971: “STEREO records - best selection in town at John Anglin's Hi-Fi Centre, 385 Cleethorpes Road, Grimsby.”

A lovely old record shop. John would always oblige and play the record to you before purchase. An immaculately turned out man always smart with shirt and tie on. Only sold albums though no 45,s.!!

Comment: My dad always bought his records from John Anglin's, he worked on the dock so [it] was easy to get to from work, they sold a big mix of records, mainly the non-commercial, Dad loved country music. Once I got a liking for prog rock he always managed to get the requested album in within a week.

Comment: This was the first record shop I frequented, after spending a lot of money in the sixties due to my father who bought without my permission but on my behalf a Thorens TD124 mk2 turntable which I still use today.
