Name: Neil from Kent
Comment: Top floor of the Pentagon, I think it changed its name to K-Two - or was K-Two originally - and as Jailhouse had a yellow sign above. I have a photo somewhere possibly taken in the 1980s of the Pentagon Shopping Centre with Jailhouse in.

I found this listing in the 'Maidstone Telegraph' dated 1st December 1989:
“Jailhouse Records, Chatham - 0634 404260.”
... and this in the 'Chatham Standard' dated 3rd April 1990: “... Tickets for both gigs cost £3 in advance and £3.50 on the door. They will be on sale at Hi-Tension and Jailhouse record shops in the Pentagon Centre, Chatham.”

K-Two Records was there before Jailhouse according to this advert in the 'Kent Evening Post' dated 17th February 1977:
“K-TWO Records - 70p OFF OUR TOP 50 L.P.s PLUS 100's OF OTHER LP’s AT EVEN GREATER REDUCTIONS. IN ADDITION, WE GIVE 20p VOUCHERS ON NON-SALE, FULL PRICED LP's AND TAPES. K-TWO Records 1st FLOOR, PENTAGON, CHATHAM; 204 HIGH ST., CHATHAM; 29 HIGH ST., DARTFORD.”

I worked in K-Two Records in the Pentagon from 1976. It had also had a second shop out in Chatham High Street at the bottom of Orchard Street which closed around the same time. K-Two's was a 'diary' shop which contributed to the Top 40 so we got anything we wanted, release wise, from the reps. We were also the only shop in Medway that stocked import soul records so K-Two's was very popular with DJs.
