I found this advert on page 43 of Music Week dated March 8,1980: “COLLECTORS' RECORD SHOP now trading as HOT WAX. Specialists in Rock 'n' Roll and Rockabilly. Opening times: Tues.-Sat., 10am - 6pm closed all day Monday. Largest stock of oldies in south London. Large stocks of 78's, EP's, and 45's. Rock 'n' Roll and Rockabilly always wanted. Now at: 74 Brockley Rise, Forest Hill, London SE23. Tel; 01-690- 7467.”
Name: Mark Griffiths.
Comment: I used to visit Hot Wax during 1982 and 1983 and vaguely remember Ray Wilks being behind the counter. I still have the slightly scruffy copy of the Reggae Special compilation LP on UK Coxsone that I bought from there for 75p, at a time when absolutely nobody wanted old Reggae and Ska records.
Name: Stuart Bridgeman
Comment: I seem to remember the walls of the shop being decorated in picture discs and coloured vinyls, which were still very much a novelty back in 1980.
