I found this in the 'Streatham News' dated 18th April 1930:
“Now is the Time, at the commencement of SPRING – leading to SUMMER – to get a PORTABLE Gramophone. At Home — in the Garden — out in the Country — week-ends and holidays, the PORTABLE goes with YOU, making joyous the hours of leisure and playtime — an endless source of Happiness. 'His Master's Voice' Portable, No. C101 £6/0/0, Columbia Portable Junior, No. 201 £3/15/0. Yours at once from 2/6 a week. H. HICKS & SON, Ltd. 182, HIGH ROAD, BALHAM, S.W.12. 'Phone: BATTERSEA 2984 and 68, MITCHAM ROAD, S.W.17. 'Phone: STREATHAM 6477.”
