Walk up the stairs and you were in the book department, which spread through a number of small rooms, each connected by two or three steps here and there, up or down.

There was also a small record department, which had racks of classical music LPs. Why was there a classical music department in a stationery store? Simple: John Goulden loved his music, so why not?

I found this advert in the 'Kent & Sussex Courier' dated 21st September 1973:
“FULL-TIME LADY ASSISTANT required for Classical record Department. Genuine interest in Classical Music essential. Write to Mr. Goulden for Appointment: GOULDEN AND CURRY, HIGH STREET, TUNBRIDGE WELLS.”

I've just found a typewriter from 1921 that has the address of this department store on, I'm restoring it at the moment.
