I found this piece on page 10 of the 'Surrey Mirror' dated 31st August 1962: “Giles has shops in High Street, Reigate and Station Road, Redhill. Mr Robert Leslie Giles, record supervisor, describes the stock in his care as “The best reproduction as far as possible by the best artists - both technically and performance-wise. Every time there is a new revolution in the recording field, Giles is the favourite as far as service is concerned.” With stereo records and radiograms now the vital ingredient, customers can hear the best - in stereophonic sound - under the guidance of the manager Mr Long. Giles not only cater for the whims of pop, although they always manage to satisfy the enormous thirst for Elvis and Cliff, they are trying also to encourage the demand for classics and, with that in mind, hope to arrange some classical concerts of records in the borough during the coming year.”
...and this advert on the same page:
“NEW RECORD DEPT. GILES (Electrical Engineers) LTD., 39 HIGH STREET, REIGATE.”
...and this classified advert in the 22nd November 1968 edition:
“SATURDAY ASSISTANT. Smart person required for radio and TV showroom. Apply: Giles, 66 Station Road, Redhill..”
...plus this in the 29th August 1969 edition:
“VACANCY IN OUR RECORD DEPARTMENT FOR A LADY SALES ASSISTANT. Knowledge of full range of records and music an advantage. GILES, HIGH STREET, REIGATE.”
