A search of the British Newspaper Archive found a result from the ‘Surrey Mirror’ dated 22nd November 1968, which indicates that it wasn’t a record shop:
“G M Gerrards (Fruiterers) Ltd 165-9 The Broadway Southall Middlesex 01-574 2400”

Correct it was GERRARDS GREENGROCERS AND I WAS THE LAST MANAGER OF THE PLACE 1N 1970 MY SUPPERVISOR WAS MR HEWITT AND MY ASSISTANT WAS A NICE SCOTTISH LADY WHO UNFORTUNATELY CAN,T REMEMBER HER NAME AND WE CLOSE AND SAFEWAY OPEN ACROSS FROM US AND I USE TO LIVE AT 11 BEATRICE ROAD SOUTHALL

Was a typist in the office in Southall. Happy days.
