Roger Taylor Queen

"At the bottom of Pydar Street was another important location: Ford's Record shop - now WHSmith's - where Roger bought most of his records, whilst further up the hill, in a two-storey breezeblock building that was once an armoury, was a club called PJ's. This location - now New Look - was particularly important to the early history of Queen, because it was somewhere that Smile, the band that preceded Queen, played 14 times."

I have an LP of Dvorak's Cello Concerto purchased from Fords, the sleeve autographed by the great cellist Paul Tortelier. My wife was almost afraid to shake his hand.!

My first record was a Beatle's "Twist and Shout" EP bought in Fords, Pydar Street. I wanted "She Loves You" but they didn't have it & talked me into buying the EP instead!! I can only have been about 6 at the time.
