Comment: There was a record shop here in the 1940s & 1950s called Elliott's Music Store which used to have a great browsing area and separate booths with headphones where you could listen to current 78s, 45s and the new LPs. Wow!

I found this advert in the 'Luton News & Bedfordshire Chronicle' dated 3rd May 1923:
“GRAMOPHONES AND RECORDS. AGENTS FOR MARCONIPHONE WIRELESS RECEIVING SETS. Box Office for all London Theatres. W. J. ELLIOTT, Ltd., Chequer Street, St. Albans. Also at WATFORD, HARROW & HARPENDEN.”
... and this advert in the 'Hertford Mercury & Reformer' dated 17th March 1939:
“W. J. ELLIOTT LTD. 150 FORE STREET, HERTFORD. PHONE 89. And at ST. ALBANS, WATFORD, WELWYN GARDEN CITY.”
... also this adddress in the 'Uxbridge & W. Drayton Gazette' dated 19th April 1940:
