Electrico Record Centre

I bought all my first records there, growing up in New Addington. Time frame 1959 - 1965 (ish). After that I went further afield mostly - Croydon and on to Dobells and The Swing Shop (Streatham).

i worked here as a saturday job around the same time……my father William (Bill) was the shop manager and Nat Joseph the owner…..happy memories

I found this in the 'Bromley & West Kent Mercury' dated 13th November 1936:
“ELECTRICO (CROYDON) LTD., Bromley's Radio & Electrical Centre: 30, MARKET SQ., BROMLEY. Tel.: RAV. 2555 & 99, GEORGE ST., CROYDON. Tel.: CRO 2527. Take pleasure in announcing that they have been appointed sole sales and service agents for the BAIRD TELEVISON.”
...and this in the 'Croydon Advertiser' dated 6th June 1952:
“ELECTRICO (Croydon) LTD., 99, George Street, Croydon. CROydon 2527, and 8, Demontfort Parade, High Road, Streatham. STReatham 1846.”
...and this in the 'Croydon Times' dated 19th November 1954:
“ELECTRICO(Croydon) LTD., 99 GEORGE STREET, CROYDON; 69 HIGH STREET, CROYDON; 8 DEMONTFORD PARADE, STREATHAM; 58 CENTRAL PARADE, NEW ADDINGTON.”
...and this in the 'Croydon Advertiser' dated 11th February 1955:
“ELECTRICO (Croydon) LTD., 99 High St., Croydon 2527.; 8 Demontford Parade, High Rd., Streatham 1846.; 69 High St., Croydon 8311.; 58 Central Parade, New Addington, Lodge Hill 2266 ”
...and this in the 11th January 1963 edition:
“ELECTRICO (CROYDON) LTD., 99, George Street, Croydon. Tel.: CRO 2527.; 27, Central Parade, New Addington. Tel.: LOD 2266.”
...plus this in the 'Fulham Chronicle' dated 20th September 1974:
“ELECTRICO (CROYDON) LTD., 27 Central Parade, New Addington, Croydon, Surrey. Tel.: 01403 2266 or Lodge Hill 2266.”
