Run by a gentleman called Alan it started out in the Coliseum before the Manchester bombing in the 1990s destroyed the building. It relocated to Paton Street where it remained for many years. Sold most genres including rock, northern soul, reggae etc 45s LPs and CDs. Was taken over and is still a record shop Tony his day under a new owner.

I found this piece in the 'Manchester Evening News' dated 11th December 1996: “AS well as the chain stores, Manchester has an excellent range of offbeat and specialist book and record stores:
Earwaves Records, 9-11 Paton Street, tel: 0161 236 4022, specialises in Northern Soul, rare and hard-to-find records, collectors records and new and used CDs. All new CDs are offered at one third the normal retail price and there are discounts for bulk purchases.”
... and Google Streetview shows that 'Clampdown Records' was (is?) at that address from July 2008 to July 2024.
