I found this in the 'Sheffield Daily Telegraph' dated 24th October 1939: “SHEFFIELD’S black-out problems will end, claims a Sheffield man, if his lighting invention is put to full use. He is Mr. E. Spooner, of 395, Langsett Road, Hillsborough, Sheffield, a city tram driver, who has thought out a new type of light trap adaptable to street lights, shops, houses, and vehicles. “I got the idea while driving a tram in the black-out,” he told a reporter.” ...and this in the 'South Yorkshire Times' dated 11th July 1953: “Musical Sales and Service - E. Spooner and Son, 395, Langsett Road, Sheffield, 6. Phone 43627.”
