Drastic Plastic was at the top of Haynes Road in Westbury, Wiltshire. It was owned by a friend of a friend I drank with in the early 1990s. Ed (a nickname - I'm not sure of his real name) and another guy, but after a while, Ed's Dad seemed to run it.

An electrical shop opened in the High Street and was selling the top ten, which made Westbury feel like a 'proper' town, but Drastic Plastic finally meant there was something in the town for me. It felt special. It was only small, but sold new and second-hand records. I think I mainly bought second-hand records at the time, though I did manage to buy some interesting Pixies bootlegs and REM's Bingo Handjob bootleg there. They'd let you 'put by' records and pay every week until you'd paid in full. A boon for me when I was unemployed. In fact, I think I hadn’t finished paying for one when I left for college, only to forget about it for several years until they had sadly closed.

I don’t recall them selling CDs, but I maybe I didn't have a CD player at the time.
