- Featured in I’m travelling to every record shop in the UK – here are my 10 favourites, The Guardian, 3 October 2024
Our first shop opened in Port Talbot in 1956 in Talbot Street, then a second in Church Street. We then moved from Talbot Street to Carmarthen Square in Port Talbot. We then moved the Church Street shop to Oxford Street, Swansea in 1968 and it's still trading to this date. We then moved Carmarthen Square to Station Road in Port Talbot which closed on the death of Derrick. Derrick's is still alive and well at 221 Oxford Street.

I found this piece in the 'South Wales Daily Post' dated 31st December 1999: “Watching the musical generations come and go in south West Wales has been Chris Stylianou, owner of Derricks Music in Swansea's Oxford Street, which has been trading since 1956.”

I found this advert in the 'Port Talbot Guardian' dated 5th March 1965: “Port Talbot's LEADING RECORD DEALER – DERRICK'S, 11 TALBOT STREET, PORT TALBOT. Telephone: 3355.”
