Phillip Burkitt:

"Del's Music Den was a second-hand record shop on East Street (OKR end just along from May Smith's/ Deejays). I used to buy records from there in the mid-70's. The signage was being changed in 2008 that revealed the original painted lettering."

Gary Le Breton:

"My dad had this shop back in the early 80s. He got it from Del and the name changed from Del's Music Den to Instant Replay. A year or so later my dad ditched the records and installed 20 video game machines - pac man, space invaders. Great times, especially being 12 years old back then."

I used to go to Dells all the time in the late 1970s when I was a youngster.
It was a real treasure trove of Beatles/Solo/Stones/Who rarities.
The guy that ran it (Phil) was great and knowing how little (if any) money I had to spend, often let me pay in instalments.
Later on he downsized the record department and filled one room with arcade machines, they were just becoming a thing then; he certainly got more footfall that way, but the records became secondary (sadly) and I didn’t go there so much.
Not sure when it closed for good - early 1980s I’m guessing.
