Co-op had a large department store in West Street with a sizable area set aside for records.

(May 20, 2014) Pete Downs said:It was a good record department. I used to visit regularly from 71-73 to go through the 10 pence singles box for bargains. They had a big backlog of ex chart and non charting singles and EP's which they used to re stock the box each week. These records dated back to the early 60's so I used to buy up old Manfred Mann, Troggs, Butterfield Blues Band etc. singles for 10 pence each. They also had lists on the counter of the Stax and Tamla Motown singles they had in stock.
